Jack Moffatt, MBA, ICD.D – Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Moffatt has an extensive background in packaged goods retailing and manufacturing in both Canada and the United States, and has held senior management positions in several other industries over the course of his career. For several years he has led an advisory company specializing in corporate revitalization and strategic planning. Mr. Moffatt is a former Chair and CEO of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Company of Canada (A&P Canada), and a former President of First National Supermarkets in New England. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Toronto. Mr. Moffatt was appointed to the Board of Directors of Afexa in September 2008 as Executive Chairman and assumed corporate oversight responsibilities in October 2008. In December 2009, he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation.

Jacqueline J. Shan, PhD, DSc, ICD.D – Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Shan was awarded a PhD with distinction in Physiology from the University of Alberta and received a Doctorate of Science in Pharmacology from Peking Union Medical College. In 1992 she co-founded CV Technologies Inc. (CVQ) in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada renamed Afexa Life Sciences Inc. in April, 2009. In the early days, Dr. Shan assembled an inhouse team of scientists with expertise in pharmacology, neurochemistry, immunology, process engineering, phytochemistry, analytical chemistry, Western and traditional medicine. She led the company’s research, product, and technology development and commercialization programs, resulting in the creation of ChemBioPrint technology, COLD-FX, REMEMBER-FX, CELL-FX, and other products. She is the architect of the Company’s core strategy of using clinical trials and science to differentiate itself in the natural therapeutics industry. Dr. Shan previously served as President and CEO of Afexa Life Sciences and led the Company’s successful transition from R&D to full commercialization and profitable sales between 2003 and 2008. She has authored and co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and is an inventor and co-inventor of more than 20 national and international patents. Dr. Shan has obtained her ICD.D designation through the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Allan Cleiren, CA, ICD.D – Chief Financial Officer & Senior Vice President Operations
Mr. Cleiren is a Chartered Accountant with over 19 years of financial management experience in both private and public companies operating in both Canada and the United States. He has held various executive positions in the past including that of CFO for a publicly traded company and spent five years with PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Price Waterhouse) engaged in audit and tax services. He has also been the Vice President, Finance of a large publicly traded multidivisional company with international operations, employing over 11,000 people. Mr. Cleiren graduated from the University of Alberta in 1990 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He is a Chartered Accountant and has an ICD.D designation through the Institute of Corporate Directors. He joined Afexa Life Sciences on September 1, 2008. On June 1, 2009 Mr. Cleiren took on the additional responsibility of Senior Vice President Operations.

Michael Obert, LLB - Chief Legal Officer & Senior Vice President Corporate Development
Mr. Obert is an experienced corporate-commercial lawyer. He specializes in the technology/biotechnology field with wideranging expertise in, among other areas, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures/collaborations, private and public financings, licensing, corporate governance and securities law. Prior to joining Afexa Life Sciences, Mr. Obert was a partner with Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP where he practiced law for 30 years. Mr. Obert is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of Upper Canada and is a graduate of the University Of Toronto Faculty Of Law. Among his responsibilities at Afexa Life Sciences, Mr. Obert serves as an adviser to the Board of Directors. Mr. Obert joined Afexa Life Sciences in February 2010.

Lei Ling, PhD – Vice President Product Development
Dr. Ling has a PhD in chemistry from Ehime University, Japan. He was one of the group leaders in the Company’s original science team working with Dr. Shan involved in early stage of Company’s product development. He has managed different projects in research and product development as well as collaborative research. He has expertise in (i) Drug discovery and development, (ii) Identification and isolation of active ingredients from natural source and development as natural health products, (iii) Quality management, and (iv) IP management. He also has the expertise and experience in scaling up lab process and transfer to production. Dr. Ling has been with the company for more than 10 years in total.

Warren Michaels – Vice President Communications
Mr. Michaels has worked in the public communications industry since 1966 having worked in radio, public office, and television. Mr. Michaels founded Canada’s first school of broadcast journalism and was a professor and the department head of Broadcast Journalism at Fanshawe Community College in London, Ontario from 1971 to 1980. Before joining Afexa, Mr. Michaels worked at CBC Radio-Television Network where he was a supervising producer for current affairs programming that offered viewers insight and understanding of trends, social and political issues. Mr. Michaels joined Afexa Life Sciences in January 2004.

Fred Pittman – Vice President Sales
Fred Pittman has more than 25 years of senior executive experience in sales and marketing in the consumer packaged goods industry. Mr. Pittman has leadership experience in Canadian and U.S. retail, wholesale, distribution and broker networks. He has a proven track record of building branded and private label equity, market share, brand development and shareholder value. Mr. Pittman has been with Afexa since July 2007.

Sharla K. Sutherland, PhD, FICN – Vice President Scientific & Regulatory Affairs
Dr. Sutherland was awarded a Ph.D. in physiology from the University of Alberta and was one of the original 25 scientists involved in the Company’s early R&D activities working with Dr. Shan. She has expertise in of the research and commercialization of evidence-based natural health products, leading the team to novel regulatory achievements such as the issuance of product licenses (NPN’s) with comprehensive therapeutic claims. She has overseen a network of over 50 research collaborators in cold, flu, cancer, metabolic and neurological areas, and managed successful large multi-centre randomized double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trials. Dr. Sutherland has been with the Company since May 2004 and was appointed Vice President Scientific & Regulatory Affairs in February 2007.

Jason Vandenberg, CA – Vice President Finance
Mr. Vandenberg was previously the Chief Financial Officer of Eveready Inc. and its predecessor companies from June 2008 until that company’s acquisition by Clean Harbors, Inc. in July 2009. Prior to June 2008, he was Vice President, Finance of Eveready Inc. and its predecessor companies from August 2006 to June 2008 and the Corporate Financial Reporting Manager for Eveready Inc. and its predecessor companies from April 2005 until August 2006. Prior to this, Mr. Vandenberg spent six years with the national chartered accounting firm of Grant Thornton LLP. Mr. Vandenberg received a Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction from the University of Alberta in 2000 and the designation of Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 2002. Mr. Vandenberg, a resident of Edmonton, Alberta, joined Afexa at the end of May, 2010.

Steve Wallace – Vice President Marketing
Steve Wallace has more than 23 years of management experience in sales and marketing in the consumer packaged goods industry. Mr. Wallace holds an Honours Degree in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario. He has a proven track record of building sales and increasing the value of consumer brands both in Canada and the United States. Mr. Wallace has been with Afexa since September 2006 and was appointed Vice President, Marketing April 1, 2009.
